Akinwumi Fajola is a passionate advocate for sustainable renewable energy solutions and achieving net zero emissions from fossil fuels. He played a key leadership role in the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN) Clean Cookstove Initiative, a Shell Social Investment program aimed at promoting cleaner, healthier energy alternatives for households.
He successfully led the delivery of SCiN’s clean cookstove strategy and represented Shell at the World Bank African Consultative Initiative (ACCI) Forum in Accra, which brought together over 100 renewable energy development experts. His contributions helped shape the ACCI framework.
Working collaboratively with civil society organizations and external stakeholders, Fajola also supported the launch of the Clean Cookstove Nigerian Alliance, further strengthening SCiN’s commitment to
Akinwumi Fajola led the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN) team in executing the first-ever Shell Clean Cookstove Awareness and Exhibition Day, an event that served as an interactive platform fostering business engagement and creating opportunities for communities, local and international entrepreneurs, as well as clean cookstove manufacturers.
He also serves as an advisory board member of the African Center of Excellence in Public Health and Toxicological Research (ACE-PUTOR) at the University of Port Harcourt, a World Bank–funded initiative. In addition, he sits on the advisory board of the Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NiBUCAA) and the HIV Trust of Nigeria, contributing to national efforts in public health and disease prevention.
Personal Life
Akinwumi Fajola is a sports enthusiast who served on the board of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria from 2019 to 2021, where he actively supported the development of youth cyclists and athletes. He is also a strong supporter of athletics and a passionate football fan.
He is married to Olamide and they are blessed with children.
